In the Loop with Tristan O'Tierney of Yahoo! Messenger
"I looked for folks I knew were involved in the Mac IM projects in the
past. Adam Iser (Creator of Adium)—nope, he is busy with another large
company. Justin Wood (Creator of Proteus)—negative, working for Apple
now. I finally decided to go ask Tim Hatcher (of Colloquy fame and now
Apple employee) and he had the answer for me. It was actually a
contributor to the Colloquy project: Tristan O'Tierney." |

Goodbye Windows Dev - hello Apple!
"So, now I had a new Apple and I wanted to see if I could easily learn
to write software for OS X. I installed XCode from my OS X DVD and
couldn't figure out anything (except how to drag'n'drop buttons in the
Interface Builder). I decided that I would need some help so I bought a
book at random from Amazon. The book was called "Cocoa Programming
for Mac OS X" by Aaron Hillegass and it was perfect. I got started
immediately and in no time I had written my first app." |

DrunkenBlog: Behind the Red Shed, with Jonathan 'The Wolf' Rentzsch
"Jonathan Rentzsch is one of those people, and is a guy who wrote his own
preemptive multitasking engine for the Classic Mac OS that benched in 400%
faster than Apple's built-in Thread Manager for copying files."
"For Mac OS X, he created a solution to allow developers to do things they
couldn't otherwise do called mach_inject and mach_override -- similar to
Unsanity's APE -- and released it under the BSD license to be incorporated
by anyone." |

Oliver Breidenbach: Taking the Heist
"Nobody is exactly sure how to make money on the Mac market. Certainly,
good products, good service, a positive attitude, adherence to the “standards”
get you a solid business. But nothing spectacular. I mean nothing like a Google
or Flikr or YouTube." |

Digg: Safari Dev Debunks Speed Up Safari Story
"According to Dave Hyatt of the Safari development team, the recent popular
digg story on speeding up Safari is a sham. The preference mentioned has
been in use since before Safari 1.3!" |

Macintosh Software Business mailing list
"This group is for small, independent Macintosh developers who want to talk
with other developers about the business of Mac development. Questions on
pricing, packaging, advertising, e-commerce providers, and so on are on-topic." |

Andrew Choi - My OS X Programming Blog
"I have done research in and published papers on OS, database systems,
computational geometry, image processing, DSP, and computer music.
However, my first love has always been writing beautiful programs. I ported
GNU Emacs to Mac OS classic and Mac OS X, and later XEmacs to Mac OS X.
I also wrote an automatic jazz accompaniment program called MyJazzBand,
the TOE library, and a few MIDI utilties."

Interview With Brian Greenstone
"We recently interviewed Brian Greenstone, owner, programmer, tech support,
and pretty much everything else for Pangea Software, Inc. Brian is Pangea
Software, Inc.. A developer since 1987, Brian has worked on various platforms
including the Apple II, Super Nintendo, PlayStation, and Macintosh."
And another interview with Brian, this time for MacGamer. Here they talk
about his really great Mac programming book, "Pangea Software's Ultimate
Game Programming Guide for Mac OS X".
"It's not a book about how to program games, but rather a book about
how to write a game engine for OS X. That means that it covers OS X
things like the HID Manager, Carbon Events, Quicktime, OpenGL, OpenAL,
and a lot more." |

Code by Kevin: Programming, code, business, and other pursuits,
by Kevin Walzer
"I haven't gotten rich from software development. In fact, the income I've
earned so far might qualify as a nice supplement to my main income, but isn't
yet enough to provide my living." |

TUAW Exclusive: Video of Pixelmator in action
"While Pixelmator may technically be vaporware according to Gruber, I
managed to snag an exclusive demonstration video of the app in action
from its developers, brothers Aidas and Saulius Dailide (who you might
be interested to know also founded Jumsoft)." |

Interview with Kevin Hoctor, Founder of No Thirst Software
"This changed my traffic dramatically from around 1,000 downloads per day
to over 20,000 per day. You can’t buy advertising like that (seriously, it’s free
so there’s no cost)! Other downloads sites like MacUpdate and VersionTracker
haven’t even gone into the four-digits yet. As of end of day on September
11, I had over 120,000 downloads–mostly from apple.com/downloads." |

madebysofa.com - Indie Fever
"The genesis, culture and economy of a community of independent software
developers on the Macintosh OS X platform... Almost 50 hours of interviews
were recorded for Indie Fever. These interviews were combined with the
results of extensive data mining of blogs and other online resources.
The resulting thesis focusses on both the cultural and economical aspects of
the Mac Indie world and the ways these reinforce each other by applying
theories of, amongst others, Pierre Bourdieu, Michael Porter, Norbert Elias,
Chris Anderson and Malcolm Gladwell." |
