David Blanchflower - The Brexit vote will kill austerity
"When a negative shock comes John Maynard Keynes taught us that fiscal
and monetary policy has to work together to provide stimulus. That worked
incredibly successfully in 2009 as governments threw the economic kitchen
sink at the recession. Growth spurted only to be slowed by austerity in 2010.
The same is needed this time. All hands to the pumps. Austerity is dead. At
last." |

businessinsider.com - You're in denial. The UK economy is heading off a cliff
"They remind me of that perennial scene in the Road Runner cartoons, where
Wile E. Coyote races over the edge of a cliff. For a brief moment, Coyote thinks
he is soaring through the air. Only belatedly does he realise it's too late, the
plunge is coming." |

medium - History tells us what may happen next with Brexit & Trump
"So zooming out, we humans have a habit of going into phases of mass
destruction, generally self imposed to some extent or another. This handy
list shows all the wars over time. Wars are actually the norm for humans,
but every now and then something big comes along." |

r - Impact of Brexit on economy 'worse than Covid'
"The impact of Brexit on the UK economy will be worse in the long run
compared to the coronavirus pandemic, the chairman of the Office for Budget
Responsibility has said.
Richard Hughes said leaving the EU would reduce the UK's potential GDP by
about 4% in the long term.
He said forecasts showed the pandemic would reduce GDP by a further 2%." |

r - Only 9% of British voters believe Brexit has gone well, but a majority of Leave voters would still vote the same way again
"Many want the world to tell them they are right and bend to their will, but the
world isn't telling them that, isn't bending to their will (I mean, in some places,
the governments sadly are, but even that's not enough for them), but guess
who is telling them that? Grifters, hard right true believers, Alex Jones, Trump,
rage propaganda, etc." |
