Bryan O’Bryan: Why I ditched my Mac for Linux
"I’m sure I’ll get plenty of flack for this one (then again, I’m sure I’ll get
plenty of flack for all of this), but Apple’s software quality has gone into the
toilet." |

Nerds Switching from Apple to Ubuntu?
"The recent switch of two lifelong Mac nerds to Ubuntu hasn't escaped
Tim O'Reilly's radar. He cites Jason Kottke: 'If I were Apple, I'd be
worried about this. Two lifelong Mac fans are switching away from Macs to
PCs running Ubuntu Linux: first it was Mark Pilgrim and now Cory
Doctorow." |

Leaving .Mac
"Mac’s value keeps declining month by month as more of its features are
being offered by competitors — sometimes free — and Apple doesn’t
improve upon it." |

Why I Hate Apple, Why I Switched Back
"Because, while the OS X software is great, Apple’s hardware is some
of the worst I’ve used in the whole 18 years I’ve been using computers. I
purchased an iBook that ground to a halt after months of Apple denying it
was broken." |

I don't know - Dumping Mac OS X makes no sense! OS X is more polished
than any linux distro and some people even argue that Mac OS X is in many
ways "just another linux distribution" anyway - so what's the point!? |

Dave Winer: Apple & developers
"Apple didn't come prepared this year for WWDC because it's not a computer
company, and they don't need a developer community.
Which of course is a total shame and utter waste..." |

NO CARBON 64?!!! Please someone, anyone, clarify this
"I could be being unfair as having worked at Apple with OS X came out, I
had intense feelings of hatred towards all things OS 9 (and therefore classic...
it was starting to seem they'd never push a cocoa finder)." |

Switching From OS X to Ubuntu: 10 Things I Miss
"Then, about two months ago, I switched to using a new Dell with Ubuntu
Linux at work. For the most part, I couldn’t be happier, but there are a few
things I really miss about my Mac." |

Dave Winer: I'm not happy with Leopard
"Talking with a friend a few days ago, he asked what I thought of Leopard.
He had installed the new version, like me, the first day it came out. 'I'm not
liking it,' I said. He said something that was simple, profound and revealing:
'It's like Windows.' It is." |

Slashdot: What Bugs Apple Fans About Apple
"Forbes.com went to MacWorld to ask Apple fans what bugs them about the
computer and gadget maker. Turns out the lack of replaceable batteries,
need to buy Vista separately, and most of all the stock price bugs people." |

Where minimalism fails: The problem with Apple’s less-is-more approach
"Four-finger gestures may be really nice, but I'd opt for two hardware buttons
any day. Whether you're playing video games or simply using productivity and
development apps, you should be able to summon context menus without
having to resort to arcane gestures." |

daringfireball.net - The Android Opportunity
"In just the past few weeks Steven Frank, Alex Payne, and Andre Torrez all
tried switching from the iPhone to Android. All three are smart, open-mind-
ed, and eloquent regarding their reasons for trying Android. All three are de-
velopers who care about the quality and design of software and hardware." |

Slashdot: Respected Developers Begin Fleeing the App Store
"Facebook's Joe Hewitt, Second Gear's Justin Williams, the long-time Mac
software developer known as 'Rogue Amoeba' and other respected App
Store developers have recently decided to discontinue their work on the
platform, citing their frustration with Apple's opaque approval process.
Continued issues with erroneous and snap rejections of applications and
APIs are prompting more and more developers to shun the platform en-
tirely. Though there are tens of thousands of other developers who have
pumped out over 100,000 apps for the platform, continued migration a-
way from iPhone development will most likely result in lower quality soft-
ware." |
