SO - How do you print out a stack trace to the console/log in Cocoa?

"I'd like to log the call trace during certain points, like failed assertions, or
uncaught exceptions."

so - Do I need to release an returned NSError object?

"There are many Cocoa methods that require an NSError object as a para-
meter to a method, but are really a means of returning an error object to
the calling method if errors exist. Is this returned object retained?"
