"Changing defaults on OS X is not very simple. Switching the default browser
or default mail app is far from intuitive: it varies depending on the default
you want to change as well as what application is the current default. This OS
X utility becomes part of System Preferences, and allows you to switch
between Mail.app (Apple's default mail program) and Gmail's web interface.

This is an open source project: available here on Github"
