How to Build a Universe That Doesn't Fall Apart Two Days Later (1978)
"The two basic topics which fascinate me are 'What is reality?' and 'What
constitutes the authentic human being?' Over the twenty-seven years in
which I have published novels and stories I have investigated these two
interrelated topics over and over again. I consider them important topics.
What are we? What is it which surrounds us, that we call the not-me, or
the empirical or phenomenal world?" |

Slashdot: Blade Runner, The Final Cut
"A new promotional website is up and trailers for Blade Runner: The Final Cut
have been released. I've been waiting ages for this one. SFFMedia has some
details about the Blade Runner Ultimate Collector's Edition on HD-DVD and
Blu-ray with new footage. It's slated for a December 18th release. Apparently
it's also being released in the cinemas again in the US." |

Take Two - Slashdot: What's New in Blade Runner - The Final Cut?
"25 years since its original release, a definitive version of Ridley Scott's
science fiction masterwork Blade Runner, Blade Runner: The Final Cut,
has been released. So what exactly has changed? And is it worth all the
fuss? SFFMedia describes each change in detail. Is it just a patch up job
attempting to cash in on a cult film? Or like an oil painter retouching a
masterpiece, or a novelist polishing prose, is Ridley Scott simply trying
to perfect his original vision?"

youtube - Blade Runner- tears in the rain
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the
shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser
gate. All those memories will be lost in time like tears in the rain... Time to die." |

r - Blade Runner early screening notes
"This is why a "real" director's cut is so important to understand their
vision. If the theatrical release was dictated by the studio forcing Ridley
Scott to make changes he didn't want to make, we need to wait until he
can release a director's cut to see what the movie was meant to be like
without the studio's interference." |

r - TIL in 2003, instead of regular interviews, a magazine gave
every San Francisco mayoral candidate the replicant test from
Blade Runner
"You’re in a desert walking along in the sand when all of the sudden you
look down, and you see a tortoise, Tom, it’s crawling toward you. You
reach down, you flip the tortoise over on its back, Tom. The tortoise lays
on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn
itself over, but it can’t, not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why
is that, ...?" |
