your app and make it available to users while they're interacting with other

apple - Support for Smart Card Driver Extensions
"You can now create NSExtension-based smart card drivers, allowing the
contents of certain types of smart cards to be presented as part of the
system keychain. This mechanism is intended to replace the deprecated
Common Data Security Architecture, although for macOS 10.12, both
architectures are supported.
The driver extensions are limited to read-only mode, so that it is not possible
to alter the contents of a smart card using the standard keychain interface. For
more information, see CryptoTokenKit Framework Reference." |

techotopia.com - Creating an iOS 10 Action Extension
"As with other extension types, the purpose of the Action extension is to
extend elements of functionality from one application so that it is available
for use within other applications. In the case of Action extensions, this
functionality generally must fit the narrow definition of enabling the user to
either transform the content within a host application, or view it in a different
way. An application designed to translate text into different languages might,
for example, provide an extension to allow the content of other applications
to be similarly translated." |
