gitbook.io - /r/Hackintosh Vanilla Desktop Guide

"A vanilla setup implies that the OS itself remains relatively untouched - and
that the bulk of the Hackintosh-related kexts, patches, etc are contained on
the EFI partition. For all intents and purposes, a vanilla install's main partition
is identical to that of an official Apple computer."

There are changes to the new 10.12.5 Intel graphics drivers which may cause black screen or hang on boot.

Try to boot with an invalid ig-platform-id (0x12345678).
At Clover Boot Screen select Options > Graphics Injector > FakeID

When you reach the desktop, install the kexts (Lilu.kext and IntelGraphicsFixup.kext) to /Library/Extensions using KextBeast.

https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/erd2th/nvram_for_all_300_series_users_rejoice/

"So in the latest commit of OpenCorePkg, a new SSDT was added: SSDT-
PMC.dsl. What this SSDT does is bring back NVRAM for B360, B365, H310,
H370, Z390, but why the hell did we have broken NVRAM to start with?

Well quite simple, Intel "forgot" to actually declare the FW chip as MMIO in
ACPI and so XNU will ignore the MMIO region declared by the UEFI memory
map. And so NVRAM SMM page fault'ed on unmapped page access, oh what
fun!"

r - Lenovo IdeaPad C340 - would it be possible?

"press windows key -> Device manager -> enter
USB Controller :
Go to the bottom part, Universal Serial Bus Controller. You will see downside
arrow, click it. It will have a drop down and you try to see brand name there
(mine is Intel USB 3.1 eXtensible Controller - 1.10)
---
Touchpad and keyboard IO : shiet i forgot how to check it. Just go take
Voodoo PS2 and I2C (yes i know it will make dirty efi but yeah it basically
works)
---
Audio Codec : go to audio input and output (on top) and drop down it, you
find a bunch of audio thing. Select your internal speaker and right click ->
properties. go to details and you will find 1 more drop down. search "parent"
on that drop down, see something like VEN_AAAA&DEV_BBBB Mine is
VEN_10EC&DEV_0236. That means i have realtek ALC236 codec."

For the most part, all SATA based drives are supported and the majority of NVMe drives as well. There are only a few exceptions:

Gather the myriad of tools we will need to get things set up. Why get tools piecemeal over various steps when we can just get them all at once? Here they are:

SSDTTime: Used to get dump of the DSDT table and perform various SSDT actions.

MountEFI: Useful script to help mount EFI partitions.

ProperTree: Used for editing our config.plist file

GenSMBIOS: Used for generating needed information such as Serial Number and other information associated with your chosen SMBIOS. Note: I am using imacPro1,1 in this guide.

USBToolBox: Used to create custom USB Map based on your needs.

Hackintool: Used to view various bits of system information

IORegistryExplorer: Used to view incredibly detailed information about system devices.

UEFITool: Also needed for CFG unlock. At the link be sure to press Show All Assets! Otherwise you won't see this particular tool.

Universal IFR Extractor: Yet another tool for CFG unlock... **Note that this is not the link from Dortania, but link to new version. Download the Windows version.

Be sure to place all these tools in some convenient location on your computer. Hackintool and IORegistryExplorer are mac only apps we'll use. Save as well on a non EFI partition on your USB. Now some tools that go in your EFI:

Modified GRUB Shell: Used to unlock CFG. Place the ModGRUBShell.efi in your EFI/OC/Tools folder.

ControlMsrE2.efi: This is also needed for CFG unlock and is already under the stock EFI/X64/OC/Tools folder so you need to copy it to your EFI/OC/Tools folder on your USB.

ResetNVRAM.efi: This comes already in the OpenCore distribution under EFI/X64/OC/Tools so you need these in your USB EFI/OC/Tools folder.

Ok, those are the tools!

I don't need to use CPUFriend.kext & CPUFriendDataProvider.kext along with
CPUTopologyRebuild.kext. You should either use the first two kexts or the
TopologyRebuild kext, not all three kexts together.

Apple CPU identifier must be 0x0F01 for 8 core CPUs or higher and 0x0601 for
1, 2, 4, or 6 cores. This is the default in OpenCore for non-natively supported
CPUs.
